"You can get much farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone." - Al Capone
Guy Ritchie has a very unique style but it’s undeniably entertaining. He creates electric dialogue, morally ambiguous characters and seems to really thrive in seedy underworlds where violence is as much of a currency as cash and in that sense his characters are always either rich or hopelessly poor and trying to remedy it through questionable means. These characters can range from drug addicts to bare knuckle brawlers to a member of an English crime syndicate.

Much in the same way American mafia stories explore themes of loyalty and betrayal and the consequences of violating these unwritten rules, a UK crime story such as MobLand addresses these same concepts, just with more worldly accents.

Episode 102 - Jigsaw Puzzle
After a rather contentious confrontation with a close family friend, Conrad and Maeve discuss potential future business enterprises by less than wholesome means. They are clearly motivated by money.Â

Harry is busy trying to discover the magnitude of a mistake committed by the Harrigan grandson who with some friends created a brewing shit storm. Harry continues to demonstrate he is both friend and foe if he needs to be. He can approach with a calm demeanor and an edge hiding just beneath the surface, always popping up at random times reminding everyone he is not their friend.Â
Eddie, the grandson, has shown he is clearly not above unhinged rage. As he interacts more with his grandparents, particularly Maeve, we see the origins of his coddled, violent fueled nature. He is a product of an incredibly sociopathic environment.Â

As Eddie hides out under the protection of his grandparents, Harry is at the precipice of a looming war between families that promises unmitigated bloodshed. His search for Tommy, Eddie’s friend and the son of the opposing family, is ongoing and the father is threatening all out vengeance if his son is not returned to him in a timely manner. Time is running out for everyone if peace is the preferred outcome. This particular episode ends with great promise and likelihood that things are not to remain quiet for very much longer. It would appear bodies are about to fall indiscriminately.Â

Overall thoughts on Episode 102: Jigsaw Puzzle -
The looming threat of great violence becomes ever clearer and more unavoidable. The tension is building at great pace and the dynamics are becoming more obvious as to who rules the family and who actually determines their future. A war is imminent and it’s very exciting to know what happens next. Episode 101 established ground rules and 102 starts to break those rules and so far it’s a great bit of fun - Ritchie style.
